Abstract
The author discusses the interoperable communications issues for heterogeneous systems connected to an ISDN. The author describes the role of open systems interconnection (OSI) in telecommunications networks and services, then briefly presents ISDN protocol modeling and it applications. Finally, some technical issues concerning the future network concept are addressed, with some consideration given to the architecture of intelligent communications network and evolution into broadband ISDN
