Abstract :
This paper investigates the resonance characteristics of metal structures based on numerical analyses. The complex natural resonances (CNR) are calculated using the FDTD method. Although CNRs are intrinsic to a metal structure, it is found that many factors affect their extraction from the scattered signals. We investigate some of these factors and point out useful guidelines that may be employed in the characterization of buried metal.
