Abstract
A new statistical path-loss model, based on measurements of an actual DVB-H signal, for a suburban environment is proposed. This model is lognormal and has been validated by analyzing the cumulative distribution function. Excellent agreement was obtained between the standard deviation of the experimental data and the standard deviation of the lognormal fit. The model is compared with the ITU and Hata model and delivers better results. Finally, different propagation environments have been categorized. For denser environments, higher path losses have been obtained.
