Abstract :
In this paper we describe our work on the design and implementation of GNSS application on a multi-core platform. The emerging systems and advanced algorithm development create the need for flexibility for GNSS receiver, which cannot be met with currently widely used ASIC technology approach. Different technology solutions to meet the flexibility criteria, such as DSPs, and FPGAs are evaluated in this paper with detailed description of our multi-core realization. The multi-core platform designed and developed within CRISP project contains 9 cores per RFD and software benchmarking estimates that up to 13 satellites could be tracked per core. This could be extrapolated to tracking performance of 104 satellites per RFD, when a single core is used for input preprocessing.
