Abstract :
The possibility of influencing modal choice via the provision of transport information on the Internet has been hypothesised by academics, government and industry alike. However, poor site design will hamper the potential of this medium to effect modal change. This paper reports the findings of research into the usability of Internet-based travel information on the organisational Intranet. The paper discusses current Internet use and travel information in the UK; evaluation methodology; and presents results and recommendations to improve the design and efficacy of travel Web sites
