Abstract :
In this paper, we present a simplified approach to the normalization operation in the weighted overlap-add implementation of STFT analysis/synthesis. This method aims at eliminating the need for real-time normalization whether or not the used window is symmetric. A synthesis function is derived and determined at the initialization routine instead of on-line calculating in each iteration. In terms of choice range of windows, this method is more efficient and easier to program than existing methods, and is a compromise between time and buffer space to satisfy the real-time requirement when the computational resource is not enough to execute on-line normalization for partial window overlap.
