Abstract :
Along with the expansion of power system, the problems of large matrix dimension become serious in traditional centralized state estimation algorithm. This paper introduces a distributed and optimal state estimation algorithm applied for multiple areas of power systems, and the proposed algorithm is split up the traditional central state estimation into multiple local state estimation that run simultaneously on multiple computers communicating over a network, and greatly reduces calculating time compared with the centralized state estimation. At the same time, the partitioning approach for an entire power system and definition of reference angle for different areas are analyzed. The distributed multi-area algorithm is simulated in MPI environment, and the simulating results show that the distributed state estimation algorithm is feasible to compare with centralized state estimation.
