Abstract :
The evaluation of ground plane size effects on the performance of microstrip patch antennas is described. Input reflection coefficient, radiation pattern, and related parameters are calculated for small ground planes. The simulations are validated with experimental results. This basic study provides guidelines to predict the performance of microstrip patches integrated into nowadays very small terminals used in mobile communication and WLAN system.
