Abstract :
The thyristor controlled interphase power controller (TC-IPC) technology offers innovative solutions for high short-circuit environments. Based on sensitivity analysis, optimal locations for these particular IPC controllers are determined. This paper concentrates on control the power flow of a transmission system and as a fault limiter by the effect of IPC controllers. Using the proper model, phase shifting transformer (PST) and the effect of TC-IPC parameters are studied. A three bus system is used as a test bed, computing the system load flow for a given generating and load pattern. In Simulink, all realistic control limits, as well as voltage dependent loads, are used in the power flow computation, with and without TC-IPC controllers.
