Abstract :
We have demonstrated a new technique to measure the structure of highly reflecting fiber Bragg gratings with the refractive index profile. By measuring the complex reflection spectrum from both sides of the grating, using an inverse scattering algorithm, and taking into account the performance of the optical spectrum analyzer, we interrogate an apodized grating with a maximum reflectivity of 99.91%. Fiber gratings are important elements in optical communication systems.
