Abstract
In this paper, a continuous observer design is presented for a class of continuous single-output nonlinear systems. The output is assumed to be available at discrete-time instants. The global exponential convergence of the observer is achieved based on an auxiliary integral technique. The maximum allowable sampling period is also given. Then, the observer design method is extended to a class of continuous multi-output nonlinear systems with sampled output measurements. Finally, two numerical examples are provided to illustrate the design method.
