Abstract :
In this paper, a new configuration of a microstrip dual-band filter is presented. The dual-band bandpass filter consists of two adjacent coupling half-wavelength stepped-impedance resonators (SIRs) with a defected ground structure (DGS) under them. In this new design, to increase the coupling between adjacent SIRs, the defected ground structure is adopted to result in a high passband performance. The two SIRs are properly designed to locate its first two resonant frequencies at the desired passbands. Compact size and high selectivity are obtained by the tap coupling structure introduced. A prototype filter for wireless LAN applications has been fabricated for experimental verification.
