Abstract :
A class of hybrid permanent magnet multipoles that use magnet retraction between ferromagnetic poles to achieve linear, independent field strength adjustments of 40% and micron level magnetic centerline adjustment are described. Scaling relationships, material choices, passive temperature stabilization, and design examples are discussed
