Abstract :
A technique is described for direct observation of sea ice using video image mosaicing. The Antarctic sea ice was photographed from a ship by a video camera. First, the images are transformed geometrically using camera parameters, then three other complementary parameters (length, angle and roll) an calculated using template matching to connect subsequent frames. Finally, the authors obtain a wide-area sea ice image for quantitative analysis of sea ice condition
