Abstract
We have studied the gain modulation characteristics of 80 nm-band high-power backward-pumped Raman amplifier. We found that flat gain modulation response was obtained over the entire signal bandwidth by intensity-modulating the longest-wavelength pump light source at a frequency higher than 10 kHz.
