  • Abstract
Based on the test results performed on 110 kV FXBW-110/100 iced composite insulators with a withstand voltage method in the multifunction artificial climate chamber of Chongqing University, this paper indicates that the withstand duration for an iced composite insulator should be at least 15 minutes, and that at normal conditions, all the tested insulators iced with a freezing water conductivity of 300 μS/cm can withstand the service voltage. This paper analyzes the effect of the atmospheric pressure on withstand and flashover voltages. Because the discharge path has a high randomness, the effect of atmospheric pressure on flashover voltages of iced insulators has a high randomness.
