Abstract :
The problem of field emission by nanotips is considered in the framework of transfer matrices. The layer addition algorithm, when implemented with an accuracy estimator, provides computations with an optimal accuracy. The peculiar propagation equations for a system with n-fold symmetry are given. The model is finally applied to the simulation of electronic diffraction through a circular aperture.
