Abstract
Nematic LC´s offer an excellent path toward achieving tunability in a variety of different terahertz and optical devices. We have presented technology that can take advantage of the properties of LC to realize the index of refraction tuning. Metamaterials consisting of LC-dispersed coated spheres were designed to have an index of refraction that tuned from negative to zero to positive at the frequency of operation.
