Abstract :
The dipole antenna with a metamaterial antenna radome is to enhance antenna operation near 5-GHz band have been simulated and discussed. In this paper, the high gain patch antenna design using meta-material technology is successfully constructed and measured. With the thin meta-material antenna radome (only 0.06lambda0 including the air gap between the antenna radome and the patch antenna), the improved antenna gain can be up to 2.3 dB in the WiMAX 5.8-GHz band compared with ordinary FR4 substrate patch antenna. The impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna is about 350 MHz (5.56-5.91-GHz, defined by 2:1VSWR).
