Abstract
A Laguerre filter based nonlinear dynamic model and a newly derived predictive control algorithm are used for a wood chip refiner motor load adaptive control in pulp and paper industry. Compared with many existing methods, the new approach has fast convergence in estimation, can provide more accurate prediction and automatically avoids refiner plate collapse when the load setpoint is not reachable. The method can also be easily extended to the modelling and control of a large class of nonlinear dynamic systems
