Abstract :
One of the most probable candidates for the cathodes of field emission display is the Spindt-type field emitter arrays (FEAs), and many researchers examined the emission characteristics of this device so far. However, only a little has been done on the cathode material and on the emission stability in a gas ambient. In this study, endurance against oxygen ambient of three different cathode materials, Ni, Pt, and Au, of which emission characteristics had been found to be superior to the other metal materials have been investigated.
