Abstract
Structure Function Method (SFM) is discussed through choosing optimal structure function formula, distance value and window size, and is used to retrieve aerosol optical thickness (AOT) over Beijing and its surrounding area in this paper. 6SV1 is chose to create look-up table. Effect of polarization for different aerosol models is studied in detail in the paper, and results show that polarization should be considered in retrieving AOT over urban area. The retrieved result using SFM could reflect the distribution of AOT. So, Air quality could be assessed by retrieving AOT over Beijing city.
