Abstract
Fluid dynamic bearing (FDB) spindle motors have been used widely in hard disk drives (HDDs). In this paper, the effects of EM forces are analyzed from the point of view of acoustic noise generation. A drive mode is suggested for reducing the acoustic noise produced in the operation of the fluid dynamic bearing spindle motors.
