Abstract :
A distributed collision-avoidance scheme employing pilot-tone based carrier sensing mechanism is proposed for the upstream multiaccess in PONs. Simulation results show the proposed algorithm outperforms the conventional CSMA/CD scheme in terms of network throughput and delay.
