Abstract :
In this paper, we shall study the MF(medium-frequency) and the HF(high-frequency) ground wave propagation over a land-to-sea mixed-path in an inhomogeneous atmosphere. By comparing with the new experimental results obtained from the measurement performed recently in the Kanto area including the city of Tokyo and the Tokyo bay, we will show that the mixed-path theory agrees very well with the experimental results. We will show that, due to the recovery effect, the electric field is strengthened in the portion of the sea propagation over the land-to-sea mixed-path. We will confirm that the new experimental results agree very well with the data reported previously. Also shown both experimentally and theoretically are the unexpected attenuation and the anomalous variation in the propagation in the urban area.
