Abstract :
Electric power distribution feeders are susceptible to faults caused by a variety of situations such as adverse weather conditions, tree contacts, equipment failures, accidents, etc. Distribution circuit faults result in a number of problems related to the reliability of service and customer power quality. In the past, the permanent interruption of customer service resulting from a blown fuse or a recloser lockout was the only factor which was used to determine service reliability. So we developed KODAS (Korea Distribution Automation System) successfully and had one field test installation of a distribution automation system in the last three years at Gang-Dong Branch Office. There were several problems in automated devices during the field test period. We tried to find the reason of problems and improve KODAS for the purpose of making the system stable. In performing the project, the Korea Utility has gained valuable experience, through dealing with several difficult problems
