Abstract :
Power factor correction (PFC) is the capacity of generating or absorbing the reactive power produced by a load. AC/AC converters are the most popular structure widely applied in various industrial applications, which are traditionally implemented by voltage regulation technique. However, they have high total harmonic distortion (THD), low power factor (PF) and poor power transfer efficiency (n). This paper introduces a novel approach method C-modulation that implements DC/DC conversion technology into the AC/AC converters. The DC-modulated power factor correction on AC/AC Luo-converter effectively improved the power factor up to PF = 0.999 and the power transfer efficiency n up to 97.8 %. The experimental results verified our design and calculation. This technique will be widely applied in many industrial applications
