  • Abstract
High-voltage (HV) electrical equipment (generators, transformers and circuit breakers) in power system has been monitored lately in certain extent. Monitoring systems (MSs) are different, depending on the type of HV equipment witch they supervise and depending on the producer. In plants and substations, besides MSs, are often installed different protection, control and supervision systems, like SCADA1, SCS2, DCS3, PMS4 etc.. More systems in the same plant often measure the same parameters with individual sensors in each system, resulting in multiplication of sensors and acquisition equipment. New standards, which have been appeared recently, with aim to solve this mix up and to organize the area of substation automation systems (SAS). Older standards are less suitable for communication between more systems. Communication protocols can be used for data exchange between more systems. Parameters may be measured in only one system, and then information on measured values may be sent to all systems witch need this information. In this way multiplication of measurements will be avoided, and sensors and acquisition equipment will not be amassed in the plant.
