Abstract
It is well known that model uncertainty in dynamic systems can be expressed in terms of unknown inputs. The purpose of designing a robust observer is then to find a gain matrix which will attenuate the effect of the unknown input. During the last few years many methods have been developed to achieve this. One such method is the high gain observer. The application of a high gain observer to fault detection for dynamic systems with unknown input is demonstrated using simulation studies
