Abstract :
A discrete element coherent electromagnetic model able to predict the backscattering coefficient and the position of the InSAR phase center of canopy covered soils has been developed. In the model the scattered fields are added coherently and the attenuation in the canopy is computed by means of Foldy´s approximation. The model has been used to simulate the response of wheat and sunflowers and the results have shown similar trends to those obtained from order measurements
