Abstract
Cathode array for a flat vacuum fluorescent display is one possible application of MIM emitters. Increasing the number of emitting (active) elements of the array results in a decrease in the area of a single emitter. Studies of such systems showed that essentially all characteristics of formed MIM systems depend on their active area. This indicates that we are dealing here with a regularity that is characteristic of formed MIM systems. We called it the area effect.
