Abstract
In this paper, the design procedure of the multi-band terminal antennas by a single microstrip patch antenna is suggested. To examine the performance of this antenna, a prototype was designed, fabricated and measured. The multi-band central frequencies desired are adjusted by adding slots and shorting pins. The multi-band patch antennas have been designed with the three-band central frequencies. Therefore, the proposed antennas in this paper can be applied for various kinds of mobile communication application (GSM, UMTS and HIPERLAN). The simulation analysis was performed using the HFSS software and a prototype of this antenna was fabricated, good agreement with the simulation providing validation of the design procedure.
