Abstract :
In the past decade there has been a great number of technological advances that have affected the health care industry. With the development of electronic networking and communication systems the amount of information exchanged between health care professionals has risen dramatically. While the `information highway´ has had an impact on both economic and social sectors, it has also had a significant impact on the health care delivery system in all areas and will continue to do so into the next century. This discussion outlines some of the effects technology and the information highway have had on the health care system and highlights a model being developed in New Brunswick
