Abstract :
The *WATSTAR/pc system is an educational local area network (LAN) that has been developed and used for engineering education. Some of the user and management facilities and features that contribute to network efficiency are described and discussed. Features covered are: the control of excess printing for reducing costs; the account manager and list manager that allow a group computing structure (i.e., a group of accounts that allows special software to be made available to all the students ion a particular instructor´s class); fault recovery and system topology; and use of dial-in nodes and laptop computer stations
