Abstract
The new control system for the Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR) is based on a multiport memory accessible by many computers. The computers are either VAXs, which run user programs, or Xbus Processors, which move data to and from the hardware devices which are being monitored or controlled. The control system database is in the multiport memory, and contains all of the data needed to communicate with various pieces of hardware. Descriptions of the hardware, the control system database, and the operating software are given
