Abstract :
The PWM converter or inverter operates on a DC voltage higher than the crest of the AC voltage of the line to which it is connected, thereby subjecting the line to an overvoltage above its nominal maximum. The paper examines theoretically and by computer simulation the AC line peak voltage of the transformer-cascaded voltage source multi-stage PWM converter and inverter in relation to transformer connection, parallel operation of converters, turn-on suppression time Td, and voltage reference waveform
