Abstract
This paper presents a new method to control a single phase induction motor by using a 32 bit high performance digital signal processor. The implemented system consists of a motor, an electronic switch, a running capacitor, and a 32 bit DSP. No starting capacitor or centrifugal switch is used. Control methods based on a DSP are proposed. An improved performance can be obtained when these methods are compared with the capacitor-starting capacitor-running method. The theoretical analysis, hardware design, software design, and experimental results are presented in this paper
