Abstract :
Sweep Frequency Response Analysis for condition monitoring of power transformer is today a general accepted technique to identify faults in a transformer. The aim of this paper is to assess the possibility of generating transfer functions which could be realized into networks using the circuit synthesis approach. In circuit synthesis the transfer function has to satisfy the conditions of positive realness and also the Hurwitz criterion. We have applied these conditions in selection of transfer function. Using this fitted transfer function for FRA under open circuit and short circuit condition of a practical transformer, networks have been developed for the above conditions. These networks indicate the physical transformer behavior appropriately and hence could be used in condition assessment.
