  • Abstract
    In this paper, a new handoff algorithm has been proposed. The subscriber in a mobile communication network is free to move around. Handoff occurs when the subscriber moves from one cell to another cell. In the proposed handoff decision algorithm mobile station can intelligently make a prediction of its next two consecutive positions. Based on that, it takes a decision to select the next base station to which it should transfer its ongoing call. It is shown that the number of handoffs and the number of call drops is reduced with this new approach.
