Abstract
In this paper, an instantaneous torque control and a fixed structure sliding mode control are proposed for the inner torque control loop and the outer position control loop of the induction motor drive. The instantaneous torque control can eliminate the torque transient without oscillation to achieve intermediate response. The fixed structure sliding mode control is proposed to achieve the robust result as that of a traditional variable structure control but without varying the system structure. As a result, the chattering phenomenon can be eliminated to achieve a smooth control. Finally, a prototype induction motor drive is implemented and some simulation and experimental results are presented for demonstrations
