Abstract :
In this paper, hydro-thermal unit commitment is studied considering the influence of pumped storage (PS) stations. The dynamic function, such as spinning reserve capacity of PS which will affect the system operating economics is closely investigated. In order to take into account some practical constraints of PS and that of conventional units, a new method named hybrid genetic algorithm-dynamic programming (GA-DP) is proposed. A test system is used to demonstrate the performance of the presented model and method
