Abstract :
This article describes a comparison between a printed Folded Monopole Antenna (FMA) and a printed Inverted F Antenna (IFA), which is widely used for wireless communication applications. Both antennas are very attractive because of their low profile and low cost. The comparison is carried out using both simulation and measurement results. The conclusion is that, by using a matching network, better performance is achieved with the FMA because it has a longer electrical length compared with an IF A with the same physical length.
