Abstract :
Tommaseo left Florence to go into exile in France, from 1834 to 1838. In order to discover what this stay brougt to him, we should to examine what the writer successively felt in Paris, in Nantes, then in Corsica, his perception of the cities and the areas which he visited, but also his frequentations and and his activities. More than just allowing us to discover his french experience, the study of his private writings reveals that Tommaseo carries out himself an assessment of this period in his novel Fede e bellezza. Indeed, in this novel which presents an autobiographical dimension, we discover what he felt and learned, during his stay in France. Thus, we noticed that his exile influenced his novel, of which representations of Paris and Corsica in particular reveal the feelings and the ideological convictions of the writer, as much as his aspirations for Italy.
