Abstract :
The authors have developed two types of valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) cells with capacities of 500 Ah and 1000 Ah at 10-hour rate, as well as VRLA batteries composed of these cells and having capacities from 500 Ah to 6000 Ah for telecommunication backup applications. Incorporating the technologies acquired over many years of VRLA battery development and manufacturing enabled the authors to design battery covers more quickly and exactly. Additionally, FEM analyses of natural frequency and strength made it possible to verify that the steel frame construction which holds cells has superior earthquake resistance.
