Abstract
The ideas behind the development of a new 48 V-600 W telecom grade rectifier unit are presented and discussed. Prime goals were lower cost per watt using SMD mounting of preferably all power components together with simple mechanical assembly; high reliability using as little electrolytics as possible; high power density with integrated fan; and ease of maintenance using microprocessor control and handy mechanical design.
