Abstract :
A CMOS current-mode high-speed fuzzy logic microprocessor on a chip is designed. It has the advantage of simple circuit structure and high processing speed. The chip consists of approximately 4000 transistors besides some testing circuits with a chip-area of 2.5 mm×3 mm and can process in parallel 40 rules of two antecedents and one conclusion each with the speed of 1,000,000 FLIPS (floating instructions per second) at a 30 MHz clock speed designed for a 2-μm CMOS process. These microprocessors are applied in a real-time hardware fuzzy expert system to support the decision making ability of a simple intelligent manipulator in the process of its searching for targets. Test results of the circuit units and the microprocessor and the simulation results of the fuzzy expert system are satisfactory
