Abstract :
We propose a novel tabletop THz FEL amplifier consisting of a photocathode RF gun, an undulator, and an is-TPG THz seeding system. In the compact FEL amplifier, tunable and narrowband THz seed light generated by the is-TPG device is amplified through FEL interaction with high brightness electron beam in the undulator. Design study and numerical estimation of the performance of the tabletop THz FEL amplifier have been studied. The sub-watt level THz seed light will be amplified order of 4 in peak power with a 2.5 m long undulator. Total size of the novel THz FEL amplifier is expected to be 2 m times 4 m.
