Abstract :
This paper presents a method to fit optimal operation rules (OORs) for the coupled operation of hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) using fuzzy logic. These rules are based on a set of points which establish a relationship between the state of each reservoir and the aggregated state of the whole hydroelectric power system in a optimal operation context. The roles fitted using this method are used by a simulator and the results are compared with the results achieved by other fitting methods and by other kinds of roles. The test system is the Brazilian Southeast System, with an installed power close to 25 GW. The proposed method has the great advantage of being totally automatic and it also presents a high performance in simulations
