Abstract
Mobile ad hoc wireless networks are power constrained since nodes operate with limited battery energy. In this paper power efficient hierarchical dynamic sources routing protocol is proposed to maximize the life span of mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) and to improve scalability. We modified dynamic source routing (DSR) protocol to be power efficient in a two level hierarchical network. Our proposed protocol has significantly improved the throughput at the time of node failure due to lack of battery power. Simulation results show that the proposed power efficient hierarchical source routing protocol has a higher performance than other source initiated routing protocols in terms of the network lifetime.
