Abstract :
This paper presents an efficient and accurate technique to simulate multiple limited energy units probabilistically in equivalent load duration curve (ELDC) method. Since the discharge side of the pumped storage unit is also modeled as a limited energy unit the technique can easily be employed to optimize the reservoir utilization levels of pumped storage units in probabilistic production costing methodology, used for generation expansion planning. A hand calculation example is included to demonstrate the technique. The method proposed is independent of ELDC representation
